Women increasingly became involved in creative aspects of the new modern age. Such new concepts not only expanded ideas about the human mind but also encouraged the liberation of social conduct, in particular, sexual mores. The introduction of psychological ideas, first in the form of Sigmund Freud’s discussion of the unconscious and later in the writings and art of the surrealists, found an enthusiastic audience in America. ![]() To these artists, abstraction meant the synthesis of personal experience. The simplification of form, multiple perspectives, and ideas about the fourth dimension that radical proponents of cubism espoused would find their most compelling American expressions in the fishermen of Marsden Hartley, and the animal bones and skulls of Georgia O’Keeffe. Lewis Mumford, one of the country’s most brilliant thinkers, explained that, unlike Europe, “the New World expanded the human imagination.” Young American students still traveled to Europe, especially Paris, for their initiation to art, but the progressive new ideas of cubism, futurism, and surrealism that they imbibed only found their true home in the United States.Īs demonstrated by the first generation of modernists in the circle of Alfred Stieglitz, American artists rarely abandoned referential ties to the physical world completely. A modern age marked by technological wonders had begun, and the United States was to be its focal point. The beginning of every century inspires a general sentiment of endless possibilities, and the twentieth century was no exception. ![]() Smashbox precise highlight brush7/21/2023 ![]() ![]() Items that are opened or damaged cannot be refunded or exchanged. Krypton is used in a variety of applications, including fluorescent lighting, lasers, and medical imaging. Like mentioned in the beginning, krypton is also the name of the planet where Superman comes from. The gas is also used as a filler between insulated glass panels and has been a key success in energy-saving windows. Krypton is used to fill electric lamp bulbs which are filled with a mixture of krypton and argon, and for various electronic devices. Other compounds are unstable, unless isolated in a matrix at very low temperatures. The light created when an electric current is sent through a light source containing krypton gives a white bright light and enables people to see more clearly. Krypton difluoride, KrF 2, has been prepared in gram quantities and can be made by several methods. By using krypton in different light sources the bulb will burn brighter and longer, it will also use less energy. Poseidon’s Lovers and Children Lover 1: Amphitriteīack on Poseidon’s many lovers and children, I guess we should start with his wife, Amphitrite, and the rather weird story of how they got married. Sadly, I can’t mention every single one in a single blog post, but as I cover these deities and mortal children of Poseidon, I will update this blog post with a relevant link to the articles. Since we are on a topic of thousands of deities, I guess we can look at Poseidon’s lovers and many children. The reason we refer to him as the god of the sea is that that is the role he took as ruler, and it’s much easier to refer to one than having to name all 10,000. From Pontus and Thalassa, which literally means sea to Oceanus and the many minor gods and children that followed. Of course, Poseidon wasn’t the only deity associated with the sea. And this is where Poseidon would receive his Trident-the symbol that would identify the god and ruler of the sea. It’s quite rare to see images of Poseidon without his iconic Trident, and when his name is mentioned, I’m sure the Trident is what comes to mind for most people.ĭuring the War of the Titans, Zeus freed the Cyclopes from Tartarus, and in exchange, they forged the gods their weapons. Poseidon would then take the sea when he drew the second shortest straw, and Zeus, emerging victorious will, of course, become the ruler of the sky. But Zeus never intended for this to be a fair contest, and so the underworld was given to Hades when he drew the shortest straw. When they eventually did manage to overthrow their father, the three brothers drew straws to see how the world would be divided and who would rule which domain. There are some versions of the story where Poseidon was also given away by his mother same way Zeus was, but these are much harder to come by. But the poets that followed seemed to agree that this association to the sea only came after his father was defeated.Īs the years passed and many different versions of the Greek religion came and went, Poseidon became one of the original six Olympians-the children of Cronus and Rhea, whom all except Zeus were swallowed at Birth by their father. It’s hard to say with any real certainty if the Mycenaeans ever saw Poseidon as the god of the sea because we just don’t know enough about the culture nor the people. But in the absence of his brothers, Poseidon was pretty much the three-in-one Swiss Army knife deity. This in itself is quite interesting because that is a role, we would more commonly associate with his other brother, Hades. The Mycenaeans still saw Poseidon as the god of earthquakes, but he was mostly associated with the underworld and its many rivers. This whole transformation into an animal to have intercourse with someone is something that we see numerous times throughout Greek mythology. One of Poseidon’s earliest stories involves him transforming into a horse to mate with Demeter, who had previously transformed herself into a mare. But most of this can be attributed to the fact that Zeus is a deity that doesn’t appear until much later. Even Persephone was considered the daughter of Demeter and Poseidon, as opposed to Zeus. The role that we now associate with Zeus originally belonged to him. To the Mycenaeans, Poseidon was pretty much the figurehead of their religion. ![]() Origin of Poseidonīefore we begin, we have to put aside any Greek pantheon image that we think we have, because the Mycenaean Pantheon is pretty much the foundation that all others were built from. Essentially, the mother of all Greek myths. With an article of this magnitude, we should probably start at the very beginning with the Mycenaean religion. He was the Greek god of the Sea, the god of drought, floods, earthquakes, and horses-his Roman counterpart was NEPTUNE.īut most importantly, one of the Olympians that I still haven’t covered for some reason, and I know some of you have been asking for a while now. Then, realize they don’t think like recruiters. Now think about all the different ways they can share information about themselves. Think about the wide variety of job seekers. But, I am blaming the lack of uniformity in how they present themselves across all these different platforms or even in their resumes. What do all of these technologies have in common? Or rather, what don’t they have in common? Aside from the obvious, the technology can vary widely, the biggest issue is the candidates. At a minimum, there’s your recruitment ATS and CRM, social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter), job boards, resume databases, and possibly even external search engines (Google and Bing). We’ve practiced the science of Boolean, but let’s pause for a moment think of all the tools you use to source candidates. This search will display results that contain the words ‘human’ and ‘resources’ but not necessarily in that order. In the example above, the search will only return results that contain the exact phrase ‘human resources.’ If you do not use quotation marks around phrases, each word in the phrase will be treated separately as if you used AND between each word. I only have one complaint and that is the side plate switch. If it aint broke don't fix it !!!Ĭomments: This reel is my go to topwater reel. I guess this new design was cheaper to make. I don't recommend this reel and will no longer be buying Abu Garcia because of this crappy reel. I have tried clicking in or out individual brakes and I cant seem to get it perfect. It either wont cast but 30 feet or it backlashes really bad. The gen 4 has a different braking system on it and I can't find the sweet spot. I am now on the shimano teamĬomments: I have been an Abu Garcia fan for 30 years but I don't recommend this reel. Really hope abu steps up their game in the future. Castability sucks, just doest feel comfortable. Been an abu guy my entire life but the gen 4 is terrible. Our customer´s needs come first to us and we select each item of nautical and fishing equipment with great attention to detail.Comments: Took me a while to figure this reel out but if you turn all the magnets in then adjust your spool tension knob so that your bait is barely falling it will cast farther than a country mile!! Seriously, it castes farther than my $250 Tatula elite designed for long casting now lol.Ĭomments: Abu kinda fell off.
